2018 Google Pixel Event Recap
Today was the day that Google “officially” announced its new palatte of hardware offerings, including new smartphones. I say officially because pretty much everything leaked on the internet. And although there were some (like me) who harbored secret hopes that there was some mystery left – well…nope, it was gone. But if you didn’t get a chance to catch the one hour and change spectacle that Google put on today in NYC, read on for the recap of it all.

I tackle some of the info out there surrounding whether or not there is a 3rd Pixel device in development – something very few have seen. Or if Google is just trolling us on an epic scale. Check it out, and sound off in the comments! Thanks for watching!
New videos on the channel!
It’s not an understatement to say there’s a lot going on in the world of tech this week. Between Google I/O 2018 (and the related Android P news), the review units of the LG G7 ThinQ and the Samsung Galaxy S9+ landing, and Apple earnings blowing up the spot, there isn’t a lot of time for a tech blogger to catch his breath. But we are a dedicated lot, so I spent some time putting together a few new videos for your enjoyment.
Google I/O 2018 Day 1 – Blog Recap
I hope you are ready – because Google I/O 2018 is about to begin. I’ll be recapping all the major announcements from the keynote, and the whole of the three day event. This post will be continuously updated throughout the day(s), so be sure to check back often.
Ready then? Let’s get started!
Google appears to be readying Android Messages as an iMessage competitor
According to a report from Android Police, as part of their teardown of the update to Android Messages, it appears as if Google is readying a number of features to have it mimic the most popular features of iMessage, including using a web interface, as well as offering mobile payments directly in the app itself.
Google I/O 2018 date and ticket lottery set
Google’s annual developer conference (dubbed Google I/O) will be held on May 8-10 in Mountain View, CA. The tickets grew to be so popular, that general admission tickets are now drawn via a lottery system, and are (typically) quite expensive. But the ability to throw your hat into the ring for a ticket will apparently be coming in less than a month – Feb 22nd to be precise.
We are excited for the news that is likely to come from this event – are you? Let us know in the comments section below!
Google holiday promo means good savings & goodies when buying a Pixel 2
Emails from Google hit yesterday talking about the great deals that can be had on Pixel 2 devices from now til the end of the holiday season – something you might want to think about for that tech gift loving person in your life.
This deal involves getting a free Google Home Mini with a Pixel 2 purchase, as well as a $100 Google Store credit when you buy, and potentially as much as $400 in trade-in credit when you trade in a phone when purchasing your new Pixel device.
If you have an old phone laying around, and are looking into buying the Pixel (and you can check out our video review of the Pixel 2 XL here), this is as solid a deal as they come. Head over here to the Google store if you want to dive in.
